Why would the US use the B2 Bomber against Iran

There's a short of an American soldier who was in a firefight somewhere and called for air support. After getting the coordinates sent over and confirmed, he received a reply of "bombs away, ETA 2 mins."
He thought that was weird because nothing takes 2 minutes to fall. He later found out the plane responding to him was a B1 bomber flying more than 50k feet over his head. That's why it took 2 minutes to fall. It also did that 50k+ft drop accurately and hit the rather close targets he had relayed.

The only “risk” to the B2 is if Iran was to strike Diego Garcia directly. Now technically Iran does have that ability (just barely). However that risk can pretty much be fully mitigated by a single Arleigh Burke class missile-destroyer being stationed there. The abilities of the Arleigh Burke can intercept and destroy anything Iran has access to. On top of this there will generally be a strike group sitting in between the two positions that also has full intercept capability. And as another layer we know a THAAD system will be in Israel, another in the UAE, and we are rerouting another to the area. Each of these have both early warning, launch warning, and intercept capability.

Now with in flight refueling you could technically have run missions from the U.S. However by placing them in the region you can turn around those bombers and coordinate a relatively quick series repeat strikes, adjusting targets and responding much faster. In other words you could choose go from a minimum strike to choosing sending everyone back to the Stone Age in just a few hours.
