You have an amazing at-home library, and I'm enthusing over it!

As a book nerd, I was in heaven while I was watching this vlog! You have a very lovely at-home library! I'm going to adopt your strategy moving forward; all the books I want to read again will remain on the bookshelf. All the books I'm not going to read again will be placed in boxes.

I also read classics at this point - I enjoy contemporary literature, but there is nothing like immersing yourself in a well-written classic novel. Classics are simply the best!

Thank you for giving us a tour of your library, my friend!

I mostly read classics but I have a lot of respect for people who read fantasy. My brother is a huge Tolkien fan. This was so relaxing to watch. ❤

Since I only recently found your channel, I am watching your backlog. I really appreciated this video because it shows the thought process that we book lovers go through when it becomes necessary to make room for future favorites. It is so hard to make those decisions.

My general rule for getting rid of books is, for classics, it might be worth hanging on to it. Classics sometimes do take a bit more effort to get into them. When it's a modern book, especially something "trendy", it might be better to find it a new home. If you really didn't like it the first time, it may stay that way. The important thing is to try and remember why you didn't like it. Classics may be too long, or too old fashioned in language, or have historical background you don't know, etc. A more current book might have other things that just weren't your taste and that generally won't change. Just my two cents worth of advice!

Hello Emily! I hope you and your family are well! You are very brave to unhaul books you are not quite sure. I must admit that I would not have the courage to do that since I love my books too much. This is reflective in our book cases where I have double rows of books on several shelves, much to the great annoyance of my wife who argues that it will break the shelf due to weight. If our house ever catches on fire, the firefighters will not be able to extinguish it b/c of all the books. On those extremely rare times when I have gotten rid of a book, there was only one that I was happy to get rid of b/c I could not stand it at all. That was right after lock down, a book club that I belong to called the Classic Reading Lounge (which incidentally was originally started by Tristan) chose Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy for the month. I could not stand that book and should have DNF'ed it but did not since I was travelling in both Scotland and England. When I was done reading it, I could not figure out what I had read. Therefore, I was happy to drop that book like a bad habit. Anyway, I applaud you for doing what you did b/c I really can't get rid of my books even though I don't have the time to ever re-read then again (including my favorite Dumas books 😢). I enjoyed your video and look forward to the next one as always. Have a great day and rest of the week! 😀

The old man ornament that you have is like exactly the same in my children story as I am an author and children writer.

I learned the hard way that I have to keep track of books that I sell/donate. Otherwise, a few years later I end up buying the same book again! I start reading and it sounds familiar. I realize I already read or DNF'd it. Or I did enjoy it, but it was not one that I would keep for re-reading. You would think I would remember such things. But after years (or even months) pass, I sometimes don't.

I’m curious how you comfortably read big and heavy books, especially for long reading sessions? I find the kindle so convenient but miss physical books, however I read more on kindle ❤. Last night, for instance, I woke up in the middle of the night and read easily on my kindle without disturbing my husband and being in a comfy position to fall back asleep . I wouldn’t have been able to comfortably read a hard back or paperback the same way

Hello, new subscriber here! My general rule is to try to give my shelves a dust every week or two, and then do a full clean (removing books & decorative items off the shelves) once a month. I live in a humid Summer environment and very damp in Winter, so it's important for me to keep on top of mold and dust.
Your library looks beautiful! I love your shelves, and we have similar tastes in books 🙂It's so hard to let go of books, but also important to only be surrounded by the things you love & that speak to your soul.

This was like watching a horror movie ... getting rid of books ! I just can't do it ! That said, I'd have no difficulty in throwing out Leigh Bardugo's books :D

I recently bought myself a "King of Scars" duology, and I have never read anything from Bardugo before. Would you be so kind as to give a little details on what you didn't like about this work?
Maybe it's just occupying the room on my shelves unnecessarily, LMAO :)
