Lady is such an underrated character. I love how despite Tramp heading into the house to fight off the rat, she doesn't just sit there, she takes intiative to break out of her chains and heads in to help too

They did such a great job making the rat look all sinister and evil, especially as it’s standing over the baby. Really adds to the intensity and excitement

I love how the second Tramp saw the rat, years of instinct kicked in since he's a schnauzer mix and those dogs were bred to hunt and kill rats

It's touching that Tramp immediately went back to Lady (who had just rejected him) after hearing her bark (meaning something was wrong) and her accepting his help by letting him know about the dire situation.

And I like how Junior stopped crying once he saw Lady and Tramp came to comfort him, but cried again once Aunt Sarah came in (pretty smart kid for someone who's not even a year old, yet he knows who to trust more).

That rat scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. 17 years later and it stills sends chills down my spine.

There's a story in Welsh folklore about a dog named Gelert which always reminds me of this scene. In the legend, Llywelyn the Great returns from hunting to find his baby missing, the cradle overturned, and Gelert with a blood-smeared mouth. Believing the dog had savaged the child, Llywelyn draws his sword and kills Gelert. After the dog's dying yelp Llywelyn hears the cries of his baby, unharmed under the cradle, along with a dead wolf which had attacked the child and been killed by Gelert. Llywelyn is overcome with remorse and buries the dog with great ceremony, but can still hear its dying yelp. After that day Llywelyn never smiled again.

Had Tramp not been there that Rat would more than likely have killed or injured the baby I never really understood the danger as a kid but now that I’m older I totally understand the threat that rat posed to the baby

Animators did a fantastic job in this scene. Feels exactly how a dog would deal a rat in real life and not just as a cartoon.

Really the true villain was the aunt. She left the baby's window wide open, when it was raining? Jim and Darling really need to consider who they hire for babysitting.

What I really liked about old Disney movies is the use of lighting and color to really bring out these fight scenes. Like Bambi vs Ronno.

The stops between motions are fucking amazing. You can really see they put a lot of effort into understanding how a dog would move and just jolt to a stop when chasing something.
