If Wicked Blow were banned on Urshifu, Darkest Lariat is actually a really neat move to use. Breaks through something like Iron Defense, Acid Armor, Bulk Up (non-Fighting or other Dark resist), Electric/Grassy Seed boosts, Kee Berries, etc.

In the draft league i'm in, Urshifu's signature moves were banned and they feel really balanced with Unseen Fist still being a very interesting ability. Good power, speed, bulk, movepool.

Having seen it in leagues myself and played against it a few times, it generally feels like you need some combination of two mons to check it, and even that is largely conditional on guessing the set right as you guys mentioned. That statement can be attributed to a lot of higher picks (Kyurem springs to mind) but I find the cost of getting an Urshifu set wrong much higher due to spammable stab and coverage. Also good catch on the stall breaking dynamic, running sub/taunt when they don't expect it can be pretty devastating lol.

Im currently using it in a team league with Danny and there is not a single week we look at it and dont wanna bring it. There is almost no drawbacks or bad match ups for Urshifu so I agree with you, it should indeed be banned in most leagues.

I still remember when urshifu was first shown and everybody thought surging strikes was gonna be the better of the two formes 😂

I like Urshifu a lot but I just don't think it's at that power level of broken like a magearna or a dracovish. It's best attacks can be stalled out pretty easily with pressure mons anyways. Btw I'm totally being sacastic this thing is nasty.
