🍝KETCHUP Spaghetti Napolitan -- easy 30-minute pantry meal | Pantry Eats

#SpaghettiNapolitan, or just "Naporitan" in Japanese, is a popular and tasty Japanese pasta dish that uses ketchup for the sauce. During these days of social-distancing and panicked shopping, I thought some of you might appreciate an easy and delicious recipe using ingredients you probably already have. Also, don't knock it before you try it, there's a reason why so many Japanese children (adults, too!) love Naporitan, so here's how to make it. #pantryeats

Spaghetti Naporitan
1/3 a box of dried spaghetti
half a medium onion, sliced
half a medium bell pepper, sliced thinly
2 button mushrooms, sliced
2 strips or bacon or small sausages
2-6 T. ketchup, add as much suits your tastes
2-3 T. butter
1-4-1/2 C. pasta water
salt and pepper to taste

My recipe is adapted from these:

I love this idea! Just in general, even after this craziness is over. Lazy people that want to cook but don’t have quality ingredients. Please continue this!

I'm chronically ill and housebound for 3 years already, meaning I don't have many groceries and can't cook for long before having to lay down. so this series is perfect for me and I hope there'll be many more episodes! your channel has been really useful to me in general

thank you for providing some lighthearted content during this time. i feel like when i watch my favorite youtubers now, everyone's mind is occupied by what's going on - reasonably so but you know, it's nice to just watch some spaghetti making.

I love this series idea. And with the COVID craziness, this is probably gonna be more and more important. I totally see myself making this when things start to get rough. Stay safe everyone!

Tips: To do the “fan” thing you need to twist the bundle of spaghetti like you’re twisting wet cloth, and then let go

I came across this dish a while ago. I realize how it might sound to some people, but it is surprisingly good.

My recipe is mostly the same. Mine has double the mushrooms, 100 grams prosciutto, 2 diced shallots (instead of onion), 1/4 cup ketchup, and 2 tbsp strained tomatoes. I served it with Tabasco sauce and lots of Parmesan.
It is dinner for two and takes like 20 minutes to cook.

I Love that you referenced Lidia Bastianich. She's one of my favorites " Tutti a tavola a mangiare!"

When I was a kid my mom made Minestrone at least once a week...sometimes when there was extra cash it would be Chicken Minestrone. It was so humble- canned tomatoes...bouillon cubes...bay leaves.. Cannelini beans too! Another soup thats takes well to customizaton. Very nourishing and comforting on a damp Spring day :)

My grandmother came to the US from Ireland in 1900 and when she made spaghetti, she used to make it with either ketchup or tomato soup up until my Mom got married and learned that sauce wasn't made with that.

I had to go this morning to the grocery store for me & get some things for my mom. I have never seen so many empty store shelves in my life. I live in NC & this is definitely worse than when they call for snow. This type of series will give new ideas for meals we wouldn't have thought of. Plus seeing your smile really brightens my day. I hope you & your family stay safe as well as all your subscribers

I've felt like ketchup has been getting a bad rap the last decade or so.
It's just puréed tomato, sugar and vinegar, people! Not some toxic sludge!

Thank you Emmy. My 7 year old son and I have watched almost all of your videos. Him seeing you calm and handling things practically has inspired him to try new "pantry foods".
Just... thank you for being you.
