I'd recommend using unsalted butter instead of oil. It neutralizes some of the acidity of the ketchup and gives a little bit more depth to the flavor.

I like adding ketchup on my spaghetti sauce. Bulks up the sauce, adds sweetness and tang. It's Filipino spaghetti btw, so often, the sauce has little to no tang and I don't like adding straight up sugar on mine to make it a bit sweet.

This is so wrong!! You have to fry the pasta with oil & spices, which makes a big difference, And you should experience this dish at some decent restaurant or Showa style cafe before you judge!
