I have several square candle lanterns for light and some heat. I found a metal pan with a shelf for votive size candles that heat up small pans for reheating food and boiling water. I like that lamp. I bet it is a lot brighter than my candle lanterns. I will put it on my wish list. HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!!

In a situation with a power outage I could see this lantern being used as a secondary cooking source. There are many types of stoves that are more efficient than this lantern but to either keep something warm or pre heat water it could have its uses.

That’s awesome! Wish I were closer to get one for myself!

It was good seeing this — especially since our area loses power ALL THE TIME!

I like how the air is pre heated before getting to the flame. That makes a difference.
thanks for the honesty - water will not boil. Putting a pan over an indoor rated propane fueled Mr. Buddy Heater gives similar results, though water will boil on a Buddy heater.
While the hot water may seem gimmicky, I'll use the light at night, it would make the difference between buying that lantern and one without the heating. Hot noodles, tea are comfort items that are nice to have.

Can you show us how to clean the chimney on the oil lantern cooker?

I quite like the smell of burning paraffin.

Reminds me of my childhood.

Klean-Heat Kero Substitute works great in Aladdin Mantle lamps too. Lehman's sells them too - light output is equal to an old style 40W light bulb.

Keep the lid on, and it will heat up faster and get hotter.
Other videos have managed to get the water to boil by keeping the lid on.

This has me thinking about putting one of those can heaters on top of it to generate more heat for a possible tent heater or emergency small room heat. Hmmmm. 🤔

What about fumes? Does it release some fumes into the room? Im thinking about using it for tent camping. Do you think it would be safe?

I have a number of these from different manufacturers from Dietz, Feuerhand, Lamplight etc. For as long as these lamps have been made and all the ones I've had. Would it kill them to put some kind of sight glass on the side of the fount for filling the oil. Just sayin.

Try using a carbon filter as a wick and it will never burn away. No need to replace it.
