Really nice presentation and review!

As a side note, having a carving axe sharpened at 15 dps and holding up just fine is a good indication that knives with above than 15 dps edges are essentially on the overbuilt side. JMO.

Hi, I've just ordered one of these, very much looking forward to getting a hollow grind finally on my carving axes. One question, what's your method of going about getting the flat over hollow?
I've been doing flat over hollow on my knives but never tried it with an axe?

What would you recommend for a total degree edge on a felling axe?

I was looking forward to this axe jig but it doesn’t fit my Gransfor maul at 45mm wide or my Muller Biber maul at 60mm wide.😑
I’m not sure it’s worth $50 bucks and then having to modify it with longer bolts.

Mine awaits at the Post Office. What angle do you recommend for a Julia Kalkoff carving axe? I am happy to learn you are a carver.

If that axe edge is that sharp, the edge is no good for what it’s tasked for and will dull very very quickly
