All reactions are valid, the mother simply understood that someone that is upset isn't going to take a joke well, daughter is a teen and is still figuring out the world and the dad is doing the best he can, though, starting an apology with "sorry if I hurt you" isn't a good call, it takes away the responsability of your actions and puts it on the person you've hurt.
