I have always had a 25 minute drive to work... except for last summer. I was in temporary housing last summer and it was 7 minutes from work. I really ended up missing my longer commute. I need that drive to get my head in the game. Now I have a beautiful but easy country drive to work, and I love it!

I don't think I would put any type of rug under student desks. Anything that spills (drinks, food, markers) will stain it and make it look dirty. Just a thought that I'd share, but it's totally up to you! Your progressing nicely on your new classroom! You could put the "Kind is cool" sign in the center of the board above your calendar. That way it would free up the longer board above.

Watching you is so inspirational and always puts a smile on my face. 
I can't even get into what will be my new room to see what was left yet because I'm still in the hiring process! I also wasn't planning on teaching this year so I have pretty much nothing; I bought books for my library last week and a few other things for my library, but that's pretty much all I have because I'm waiting to be hired so that I have access to the funding I need and so that I know what's already in the classroom and what the school has that I can utilize (they have some community supplies, which is nice). I'm super excited, but I'm also nervous because school starts in two weeks and I have nothing done. I have accepted the fact that I'll still be working in my room after school has started and that my room won't be the best room ever, as much as I wish it could be.

Blue wall really is not bad at all, especially since you started putting stuff on it to tone it down a bit. School rug roll up put on top of cabinet since you don't have to use it just have to keep it, roll that sucker up. You should be getting a surprise from me sometime in the next few days. I hope you and your kidos enjoy.

How exciting that you’ll be switching classes this year! I have a couple of suggestions:
1. Number your books with stickers. Assign each kid a number. That way, if something happens, like the book goes missing, it’ll help you track it down. I also used to do a book check a couple times a quarter, to make sure the books were still there. You’d be surprised how easily they vanish.
2. When I had more than one class sharing desks, I would turn the desks around so kids did not have access to it. Even if you tell them not to use it, they’d be tempted to put stuff in, including trash.
I think the blue wall looks great, and when you fill it up, there won’t be much showing. Take care and hope you have an awesome year!

Crooked posters drive me crazy, too. Did you know you can download an app for leveling? It makes it so much easier if you don’t have an extra pair of eyes.

Students will get use to sharing desk. I usually place name tags on the left and right of the desk. With this students know that their belongings should be placed where their name tag is. This will save so much time. When you switch you lose a lot of time.
