For me to buy a luxury watch I would only buy one from profits from my investment or preferably from the dividends. I believe in the idea you can frivolously spend 10% of whatever you net saved. So if I save $100k that year I could spend $10k on a watch but nothing else. It gives me the incentive to make more so I can reward myself with higher amounts to frivolously spend.

I suppose it depends on the field you are doing business in. Fancy suit, nice watch etc would be a negative for businesses I know. Investors in scientific or engineering companies want to trust that the money is going to people that are obsessed with their field or project. Rolex would be a red flag.
