Imagine your most iconic watch is a digital watch but it fails on the digital display aspect.

I will never understand paying a premium for an reissued watch that is technically inferior to, yet more expensive than, most other g-squares that don't have a metal case.

Thanks for the warning. This to me is a big deal for my aging eyes.

It appears to me the display is optimized for the normal viewing angle on wrist around 45 degree angle and that offers the best contrast.

Casio promotes 'at a glance' viewing. If you look at both watches simultaneously and rotate the older TN LCD, it's strong head on but weak when angled away from the eye, the newer STN LCD is the opposite.

Dim display, plastic internals replacing rubber, LED bulbs instead of electroluminescence. Casio is going in the wrong direction. These kinds of digital watches with old-school monochrome LCD displays are seen as obsolete by many, so you'd think they'd be upping the LCD quality and clarity.

OG DW-5600E all day, every day over a $200 version with no EL backlight and crappy viewing angles.

Like most mass produced consumer products that are reissued over time, quality goes down while costs go up

That's awful. I'm wearing a DW5600E that I got on closeout for $38 and the display is flawless at any reasonable angle. Everyone needs one.

1 more recommendation for those to see the lcd crispy sharp from any angle, get STN-LCD Eg. Full Metal GMW-B5000
This one even in negative option, it is awesome and very well visible.

I have a GW 5000U and the vision of the screen is absolutely perfect

I question the customers at this point.

Agreed. I've noticed that throughout the last years. I haven't even bought a G-Shock in the last year because of this and other reasons. Luckily, there are still Seiko and Citizen to collect.

They need to get rid of the LCD screens and make more with a display like the DW H5600 but without all the smart watch features that most people will never use. Rather than bringing out a load of, so called, special edition watches make something that's better.

I love my GW-M5610 even more knowing that they don’t have the EL backlight anymore but it bums me out they’re getting rid of it across their model range. I found a Casio A168 at Walmart a few weeks ago and grabbed it just because it’s one of the few models to still have a proper illuminator display.

The so-called Casio fans buried the brand. They complained, when Casio made the toughest smart watch on the market, they complained about Casio reissued versions etc

Wow. Good point. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll just get the classic.

The screen on this thing was a MASSIVE disappointment for me last year

Not just G-shock, it’s happening to displays all across the lineup
