So the reason Faye was exiled is because she wanted to change the fate of Kratos and Atreus by not allowing them to (initially) see a part of their future they would try to avoid and then cause. By destroying the other half of the shrine, they were able to create their own fate and doing so, she went against her people, saving Kratos and Atreus.

I always thought when loki decides to put on that mask he becomes odins lacky and kills kratos for him but him breaking the mask changed kratos fate from death.

Fun fact: when Baldur met Kratos for the first time, He was looking for and Chasing the warrior, at the end of the game and in GoW Ragnarok, it reveals the Faye was a Giant and there was fight with Thor long time ago, it means Baldur came for Faye(not knowing who she was) not actually for Kratos.

Now the question is: did the Giants just find the first prophecy that would see Odin dead with Giants still alive and were satisfied with just that to just go for that as default cause of time and desperation, or is there some bigger goal they had(or have) in mind that required the death of Kratos and Loki serving the Aesir(Odin's) needs that Kratos will have to deal with in later games
