The first part is very Western I think and context specific. In some Asian cultures, making direct eye contact while talking to a superior can be seen as challenging instead of humble so in etiquette, culture is key. Though I understand Mr Hanson is primarily teaching British and Western etiquette.

Welcome back buddy! I checked out your website. I love the pictures with the peas. You're totally in on the joke lol.
I'm American, but I have a friend who is a chav in Grimsby. I asked her how she eats her peas, expecting her to say something like scooping them in a spoon. But she said she actually spears them with a fork. I was shocked, she's a chav but she eats her peas the proper way! She says it's an autism thing where she needs to know exactly how many peas are in each bite. So she accidentally has good etiquette XD
