Americans love to loudly and confidently assert that “the US” is in charge of western imperialist strategy without providing any concrete rationale or evidence to support that opinion. I’m beginning to think that it’s a manifestation of their nationalism/ego. As a Ukrainian american, a person who knows the entire history of the conflict and regularly communicates with friends in both Ukraine and Russia, I absolutely disagree with this point of view. Without going into details, I just would like to remind so called experts in Eastern European politics that the NATO and UN memberships were included in the Ukrainian Constitution a long time ago. The US Government, in my opinion, can be blamed for many things, including slow and not sufficient support of Ukraine in this war. But it cannot be accused of forcing Ukraine into NATO because it was decision of Ukrainian people. Actually, as a results of this was, which obviously was started by Putin, Russia has now two more NATO countries at its border, Finland and Sweden. Is this the US Government fault as well?
