I remember in 2015 when after his dad passed and they were doing the Tag Team Tournament in NXT in honor of Dusty. Cody spoke and I think it was the first time I had ever heard him speak out of character and just as himself. He was very emotional and I immediately connected with him because it was so genuine and real. I think he's the perfect champion for the WWE at this time for that very reason. You can tell how proud he is to have reached this point and getting a chance to represent the company as its champion.

Cody earned that belt through years of dedication to his craft. Even though the match itself was scripted, you have to pass a certain threshold as a performer and as a brand for the higher ups to even consider bestowing you with this honor. Congratulations to him.
