Installing BeOS onto WindowsME as a single file Operating System without re-partitioning the drive.

Also, discussing the Windows ME as an operating system for running the legacy software.

BeOS R5 kernel has a bug which prevents it from addressing more than 1GB RAM, in some cases more than 768MB (depending on graphics card memory size). If you can pull out some RAM and try again it may possibly boot. There was unofficial BeOS MAX disto of BeOS already with patched kernel by a community member. You can also try that as it comes with a lot of apps. Just make sure to rest default fonts. For some reason they decided to use Arial in that distro and it looked ugly.

It doesnt work because the dos in windows me is crippled and has real mode removed. Windows Me was rushed to release, lacking drivers and had poor stability and exactly when beos 5 was super popular and its 'boot from inside W98 without installing' was wowing everybody.
