ChatGPT continues to make waves in both tech and academics. Dr. Jeffrey and Dr. Nathan Gower discuss how this new tool could be used to deceive professors and lead to a decline in the quality of human writing and creativity.

Along with tools like DALL-E 2 and Midjourney, ChatGPT has raised several questions both legally and ethically. In this video, Dr. Jeffrey sits down with Dr. Nathan Gower, Associate Professor of English at Campbellsville University, to discuss how A.I. could be used by students to cheat on their assignments.

Dr. Thomas R. Jeffrey is both the host for Help Me Understand as well as a professor at Campbellsville University. His research centers around the uses and implementation of artificial intelligence. In this video, Dr. Jeffrey answers comments and questions from past videos. He gives insight into the aspects of A.I. and machine learning from a technical point of view.

obviously it's one of the greatest educational tools to ever exist. we just don't know how to utilize it yet. first, though, we should ask why students would want to cheat and why they might be uninterested in developing themselves intellectually. solve that problem and the tech doesn't matter.

I'd be worried about outsourcing human knowledge to machines owned by a few large corporations. Outsourcing arithmetic to calculators is fine because most of us have access to one that can't easily be taken away.

But maybe it won't be that bad? I feel like I've learned more about writing ever sinced I started toying around with ChatGPT.

Do you think the positives of AI outweigh the negatives?

I think honestly ChatGPT has showed us how much busy work we do in school. Because in an actual job for example you wouldn’t have to do nearly as much stuff as schools give us for assignments. Especially in high school but in all honesty I’m scared for our generations kids. Growing up with ChatGPT I do have kids I’m going to introduce them to ChatGPT they will most likely find out about it but I’m going to try and teach them and raise them without AI

Effective education should be practical and relevant to our daily lives; otherwise, it may not leave a lasting impression. College is like purchasing a music CD, where one must invest in numerous songs, even if only a select few are what is needed.

This is a sign we ignored for a long time humans shouldn’t be tested with something an ai can pass that is when we are trying to outperform an ai that is wrong we shouldn’t try to outperform it but instead we should develop unique human inteligence that ai can never achieve

Chatbots like OpenAI's GPT-3 can be valuable tools for increasing access to information and providing assistance, but they are not going to make people "dumb". In fact, they can even enhance one's knowledge and ability to learn. By automating repetitive tasks and providing quick answers to questions, chatbots can free up time and mental energy for more creative and critical thinking. However, it's important to note that chatbots are not perfect and their answers should always be verified by a human before being relied upon. The ultimate responsibility for knowledge and understanding still lies with the user. So, using chatbots like GPT-3 can actually help make people smarter, not dumber.

Also the above was written by it
