Aprilia RS 660 First Service…what it includes and WHY you NEED to go to the dealer (SK XIII)

First service is just a glorified oil change right? Should you even go to the dealer to do it? Are there any consequences for not going to the dealer to get it done? Here is a quick video about my experience and what I learned after going through the process!

Mods I ordered - MIVV full exhaust, all Evotech accessories (frame sliders, axle sliders, etc) Red rear wheel, MRA R Series tinted windscreen, ASV levers, passenger peg delete kit, New Rage Cycles fender eliminator kit, rear seat cowl. I bought the Apex black. I'm thinking of getting it wrapped also. 110% stripping all the decals regardless.

That sounds crazy but the way you explain it makes sense.

Honestly is better than Ducati service, in my case I have a monster 797 2017 and next week I have to made the first service and the price that the dealer offered is $1200 for the first service 😮😮😮😢😢😢… your is nothing compared with me service; I’m 100% decided to switch to Aprilia. I love the technology everything is included in the rs660 2024 for $11000

A very interesting vlog, I wholeheartedly agree about taking your bike to the dealer for it’s first service if only to maintain the warranty, I did similar with my mt 03. However, I was not worried about anything dropping off it ! As for mods on your bike, I’m at a loss, it’s a beautiful bike, I don’t think it needs any. Looking forward to seeing how it performs now the break in period is over but ride safe, best wishes from a lovely sunny England.

Under federal law, manufacturers and dealers can't refuse to honor your vehicle's warranty and can't deny warranty repairs just because someone other than the dealer worked on the car.

With that said, my closest dealer is 4.5 hours away, and I'm NOT going to drive that far just to have my oil and filter changed.

Just got the first service on my tuono 660, also took my time getting there since my closest dealer is 3 1/2 hours away, at least the cost wasn't to bad only around $350. Fuel costs to trailer it there and back was a little over $200. Glad I didn't get the extended warranty, might have a couple more trips before it runs out then I will just do my own work

I bought my bike(acid gold RS660) at Rockridge in Oakland and I asked the salesman about the first service and he said not to worry about it. I assumed he meant I can get it done anywhere. I guess I need to talk to someone else there. But the vibration is terrible so riding it to Oakland from Modesto isn't something I look forward to. My S1000RR runs so much smoother. I hope my Aprilia runs that smooth after the service.

I literally put over 300 miles on my '24 RS 660 in the first 4 days 😅... I'm obsessed with this bike.

Hear where you're coming from, but, I did the oil change myself ( Maybe $100? ), relubed and tightened the chain, 2000 miles later, no issue, no first service. I feel this is a bit overblown. If you're that worried, take the time to retorque the bolts yourself ( and learn something about your bike maintenance ). No hate, just my thoughts!

I have to shout out to Imperial Sportbikes in Denver. They’re cool with me servicing my bike and they’ll clear the lights for nothing. I installed IMU and quickshifter, and they did the updates, even let me watch the update process.

Hey man, good to see you in my notifications.

I personally noticed a pretty solid improvement in the bike overall post first service. My dealer offered first service for free with the discount card you could buy, so all in all it was around 300ish for first service, but i also get discounts on some other parts and priority servicing if i have to drop it off. Which i did, due to 2 gaskets being borked, giving me a bit of an oil leak. Warrantys taking care of it though, and I should have her back next week i hope.

First mods? I dumped those mirrors cause i hated them, and put the rizoma stealths on, an arrow catless full titanium exhaust, spider clutch and brake levers, and an af1 ecu swap for the tune and enabling the integrated headlight turn signals. The mirrors look really sharp I think, and have almost no vibration, but the overall visibility isnt great, to be honest. In the end, it was worth it to me.

Fender eliminator and progressive turn signals for the rear coming up next i think, along with the MIA, whenever those make it back from across the ocean.

Ride safe bro!

That bike would sound very good with an aftermarket exhaust and a fuel controller.
Sounds like a review is coming sometime in the not-too-distant future.

I’ve experienced the gears selector that has unscrewed during the first 200 km and It fell down, an interesting sensation with the feet not being able to change anymore the gears during a mountain pass! I called the assistance that then fixed properly the screw of the selector and now I always take care of all the screws and bolts before a new ride and I’ve in my backpack a kit from Bosch in order to do some little repairs if needed during the trips. Anyone else who experienced something similar ? Enjoy your bikes guys and take care of them ! :)

So my aprilia dealership told me I could do the first service since it’s just an oil change and chain adjust, as long as I use the oem aprilia oil filter, if I don’t and use something like k&n it would void the warranty if there was a catastrophic engine failure

Under warranty all services as per the log book need to be done by a dealership. However, I always change the oil and oil filter (at least) in between the log book ones. Fault codes can be read and erased by yourself if you buy an OBDLINK2. As it’s basically what the dealerships use and you can buy one for less than $100. Cheap investment/insurance. 👍😎🇦🇺

You bike sounds great by the way! I’m also getting ready for the 600 service on my Tuono 660 in about 2 months and will likely need my ECU flashed since engine light flashes after 80mph. Heard it has something to do with quick shifter being installed, but coming off a 2015 cbr1000rr I am impressed with performance plus features of the 660 models

I don’t see how you would mod it ?
The bike is beautiful
