It very disturbing that anyone would vote not to expel Santos. It doesn’t matter what party you support, integrity matters. The guy was basically embezzling and lied on his resume/application. A regular employee would be fired on the spot for a lot less.

I’d like to think that the standards of conduct required to be a member of Congress should be higher than “Not a criminal”. You can hold someone accountable to those standards without waiting for a conviction. Expelling him from Congress is NOT the same as sending him to jail, so there is no crossing of the division of powers.

The only reason we haven't had to expel someone in 20 years is because most congressmen, when the writing is on the wall, resign and save themselves, their family, their party and our country the embarrassment of needing to throw them out.
