I just had an interview for a help desk position and all of my background is customer service. I did exactly what you said of walking them through my thought process, and it worked so well! I was offered the job and accepted!

70% of Knowledge is knowing where & how to find the correct answer. My favorite interview question is, "how do you troubleshoot an issue", me, 'Google Search'

At my interview for the place I got hired at, the interviewer encouraged me to Google the answers right in front of him. He said that the point was that knowing how to find an answer is the most important part of troubleshooting.

I 100% agree Zach. I chatted with you on your last live stream of WoW, and I am ultra-appreciative of videos like these. You told us viewers to have good questions at the end of the interview on one of your older videos, and I'm positive that's what opened the door for me. Make sure you guys do that at the end. Good questions like "What separates good technicians from great technicians in this role?". Be positive and interested in the position. During the most recent interview I was sitting in on, we weighed a lot on communication and troubleshooting process. We intentionally gave tasks and questions in the technical portion to see troubleshooting methods and to see how efficiently they got to the resolution. A lot of the times, interviewers won't actually expect you to know everything unless the job is more of a specialty. They just want to see if you can learn. Like Zach says in the video, make sure you pick the job post apart and try to brush up on those things, and maybe some other more basic tasks like turning on and off network adapters, fastest way to get an ip address of the device you're using, or what Group Policy is. All of this depends on the position, but none-the-less be active in your research and communicate, communicate, communicate! Having good communication plays a MASSIVE part in IT and that alone can make your interview mediocre, or magnificent!

Both positions were for customer service representative. Both questions I got were give an example of when your computer malfunctioned and what you did to remedy it. I just went blank and said I called my tech savvy friend OMG WHY DID I SAY THAT LOL I ruined my chances and I need a job asap can u give me a simple example please for next time ❤ I’d appreciate it more than anything
