Thanks, worked like a charm! Had to drill out a filing cabinet lock. 3 pins and it popped open. I drilled just above center, focusing on the pins like you first lock.

Nice! I was looking around for a video on this as I was wondering what was going on inside the lock and what the target objective was.
Thank you for beating out an animation and showing it with these clear locks!

Ty so much! I tried method #3 along the shear line and the lock popped open at the second pin. I think I got extremely lucky. Good vid, mate.

Pro tip: don’t use an acrylic padlock to lock your stuff.

Btw nice tests!

What a video. Lessons learned: acrylic is softer than brass. I was here for field work tips. This was silly.

as a locksmith for 29 years, always drill a shear line, take your time, if you rush, you will break a bit off, then you are screwed, , , and always drill perfectly, not like this video, his angles are all luck,

Thanks so much. My son locked my keys in the shed... even though he's been told a million times "bring the key back as soon as you unlock it"...I was watching this when he decided to not wait ten minutes and took my hinges off my 15 years old shed...sigh... but hey thanks to you I know how to pop the lock for future reference

The video was informative but, I'm never going to understand why people add the stupid, unnecessary music.

I have no idea where one obtains clear-bodied locks, but they were an excellent device for this informative tutorial! Also, though I can postulate some reasons why certain people, locksmiths and police for instance, might give your video thumbs down, I cannot agree.

There are, in fact, legitimate and lawful reasons for drilling locks. I recently purchased several job site tool boxes at auction. One is locked. The theft-discouraging design of the box houses the padlock within a steel recess where the bow of the lock is totally inaccessible to any cutting device without severely damaging the box. Thank you for providing this excellent tutorial that gives me several alternative methods to consider.

I will return another time to see if you also have a video detailing methods of drilling out an integral Medico (if I recall the brand correctly) lock on the door of a soda pop vending machine that a former tenant abandoned on a property I own. Regrettably, I already probably procrastinated too long since the machine sat in an unheated building through several sub-zero Montana winters--I shudder to contemplate what, other than a few coins, I will find inside ;-)

3:18 why this cut? all the pins jumped at the sheer line, I wanted to see the last one! I think it is better to keep the drill bit in and turn the core. Interesting to see it, thanks for the video!
