I bought the Blood Bank EP in the winter of 2010 for her. It was the first album I bought for her along with a red winter hat with the ball on top. We listened to this lying in my college bed, soft sheets and low lights and so many full moons. She ended our relationship this past January. 9 years. In some ways, our love was as fleeting and haunted as this song. I cry every time I listen for who we used to be and how this will always live inside of me. You don’t think your story is as important until it becomes your memory.

If I let myself listening to this song, like really- actually listen to it, I start to believe the most beautiful type of love is the kind laced with sadness.

I find myself coming back to this song each year for a decade now.
And i can never put into words what it makes me feel. It is, however, something divinely beautiful but tragically sad. From the rough beginnings of life's pains and struggles to learning the skills to live with them, this song can make you relive your every broken moment and at the same time, feel a certain love towards those emotions. A will to go on without letting go.

I don't think an audience that big has been that quiet for a man since Jeff Buckley sang "hallelujah".

Is there really a better song that is only 8 lines?

It's not weird. It's Justin Vernon.
