Shoutout Mario. Let us all be like him.
I do believe his past is what made him who he is today, but sometimes our hardest moments define us for the rest of our lives

As obvious as it may seem, Mario doesn’t want his son to be like him, to be involved in gangs. But the woman wanted his son to be like him, as a human being. That’s what’s so beautiful with this speech. Respect to Mario, as a beautiful human being.

I saw the thumbnail of the video and wondered to myself sarcastically "what kind of knowledge and wisdom could a gangster have that I would want to know?". 20 years ago my mother was murdered by gangsters, her past had finally caught up to her. Since then I've hated gang culture and anyone who embraces or emulates it. I finished the video and was left with a sense of clarity. There is an estimated 6.8-7.2 billion people in this world, and the vast majority of them are just trying to get by as best they can. I learned that I need to remember that, to be compassionate, and to be humble.

Gave me goosebumps. That’s why no matter what somebody tattoos are or what there life is like. You gotta give them a chance and get to know them. More people are much different than you think

As the Mother of four sons, I can tell you some of the friends they brought home were scary sometimes but they were the ones who were the most amazing people. Appearances really don't mean much.. it's what's in the heart that matters.

Very profound - because it's true.

*Those who have often had to endure suffering and pain doubt themselves and their value in the world, but equally they are just as often the ones which the world can learn the most from. Mario sounds like an amazing man.*

I met the Man When I was 15 In Central Juvenile Hall I'm 18 now. He truly is an inspiration, for all the Forgotten voices behind bars. No matter the background or circumstances, everybody has a dream they can achieve.
