A tenant in Rhode Island stole a landlord‘s identity in order to defraud the rental assistance program and get a check for $11,000. The tenant never actually lived in the Landlord‘s property and the state sent the rental assistance check to the tenant even though they were unable to contact the landlord.

I just can't believe the incompetence involved in these programs. No checks and balances at all. I hope prison time is guaranteed for the scammers.

per my lawyer - If anyone cashes a check made out to you by forging your name, go to the nearest PD and file a complaint. It is a felony.

Is it just incompetence or laziness or is it a deeper problem. Is it just this one person or does it involve multiple people working together to scam the government? It really should be investigated. It is taking funds from those that need it.

Wow, that is news! The criminal tenant didn’t even need to go through all this trouble. The government’s been giving away this money all the same. They never held the tenants accountable for using the money to pay the rent anyway

These types of programs are ALL financed by a budget deficit, which causes INFLATION, THE HIDDEN TAX. You are paying not only for housing for your family, but all the slacker's also.WHAT'S FAIR AND EQUAL ABOUT THAT? I CURRENTLY HAVE 3 TENANTS WHO APPLIED FOR EWRAP RENTAL ASSISTANCE WHEN I TOOK THEM FOR EVICTION AND THE ADMINISTRATORS ARE SO PRO TENANT IT IS UNAMERICAN. THE COURTS WON'T GIVE POSSESSION WHEN A TENANT APPLIES - SO IT'S ALL ANOTHER COMMIE ATTACK ON PROPERTY RIGHTS.

🤣 the Tennant submitted an affidavit of hardship, they need the $$ for necessities not just rent. There is a remedy, landlord needs to apply for relief indicating the Tennants refusal to cooperate, and the COVID moratorium for evictions, MAYBE its fraud with an affirmative defense for both parties...omg 🤣 🤣 hilarious both parties should qualify for the loan.

I have to give NYS credit in the common sense box on the way the Rent Relief Program money was sent to the landlord. The tenant did have to cooperate in order for the landlord to receive the money.

Hi Tony, can you find out if rent relief with be extended past 18 months? As of now I don't think it has but maybe in the future.

Rental assistance is a loans to the tenant. If greedy property owners needs a rental assistance loans, they can applied for themself. Keep idoitic mindset the enslaved family to support is lavish lifestyle. Just wait for more vacant and abandoned homes. We need fast track adverse possession with quick deeds claim or we need Islamic Emirate states of America now.

Many tenants got rental assistance needs to repay back that loans in the future. Good for tenants becoming new property owners.
