Further I would like to add that the Islamic conquest of North Africa did not replace the indigenous people(Amazigh, better kniwn as Berber people, and the Coptic/Egyptians) The people are still predominantly (genetically) of local origin. Present day North Africans are not the result of recent immigrants from Saudi Arabia. Genetic studies and both Y and mtdna haplotypes (E-M81 and E-M78+U6 and M1) does not support this. Besides Darija(the spoken "Arabic" language in Morocco, a blend of Spanish, French, Berber languages and Arabic and not understood in the Middle East) the indigenous Berber languages (known as Tamazight) are still widely spoken(also in Algeria). North Africa has always been the mediterranean part of the African continent and the indigenous(meaning not the reault of a colonial population) are still there.
