Learn all you need to know about Rimworld's Harbinger Tree, a very hungry, but otherwise harmless entity from the Anomaly DLC. #rimworld #rimworldanomaly #petecomplete

With the Rimworld Anomaly DLC, we see a psychological horror theme added to Rimworld in what is arguably the most unique of the Rimworld expansions. A strange monolith is found on the map and things can soon devolve as horrifying entities appear and threaten the colony in ways never experienced before. In addition, Rimworld Anomaly also adds ways to contain these entities, dark new psychic rituals and a new ending to Rimworld.

Rimworld is a Sci-Fi colony builder simulation game focused on managing a small group of survivors with the goal of eventually building a space ship to escape the planet. Rimworld is developed and published by Ludeon Studios. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game went through several Alpha and Beta versions before seeing the release of the Rimworld 1.0 version in October 2018. This playthrough uses Rimworld 1.5, the latest update to the game.

The three year old child who walked half way across the map to watch clouds under its twisted branches had an impressively fast mental break amongst the bodies.

I was wondering why you were making a short for an anomaly we haven’t seen yet on the channel. But it makes sense since we won’t be seeing them in the main series because of its spawn conditions. So thank you for making a video and talking about a rather useful and benign anomaly here since we wouldn’t get to hear your thoughts on it otherwise.

Its now a tradition that a new DLC must have a new tree.

The first ever anomaly i got was one of these trees. I fully expected something to crawl out, but I fed it anyway. Never learned about what it does until today, thank you!

My current run is on a map with a rift geological feature. I am in the mountain, with an entrance. It’s sealed currently. My pawns haven’t left in over two years. They can’t. There’s at least 100 Sightstealers. They just swarm every raid, trader, visitor. The whole rift is harbinger trees now.

So I kinda accidentally forgot to cut down some harbingers that spawned at the edge of the map, and then the game got into late game, and now a whole side of my map is just a lush harbinger forest. Trees got so very well fed with all the late game raids that keeps pouring in, of course.

Slight correction: the twisted obelisk also converts nearby trees to harbingers, and literally any other Anomaly event appears after provocation (quests built diff)

Planted one in my killbox to get rid of raider corpses, ended up losing an enhanced ghoul with tough when a raid went south

My favorite. I always care for these trees any time they grow in my world. So useful for getting rid of corpses

You might be tempted to use those trees during the Death Pall event. I would advise against that. The timing is pretty tight and trees often do not eat the corpses fast enough - especially considering they tend to spawn near borders of the map.
You may also want to set up filters on what corpses do you want to throw in there - so your pawns don't stash valuable game near them.

Imagine a Druid/Psycaster attuning to a tree not knowing it was a flesh tree, it could make a great solo scenario.

This is Rimworld where steel is flammable. Of course the tree can catch fire.

honestly it is great to have a source of bioferrite that doesn't require you to activate the obelisk (you can buy the seeds)

You forgot to mention: Things don't have to be dead for a harbinger tree to consume them. I watched a bear fall asleep near one. Never woke up.

You forgot that it can also just appear for no reason AFTER you interacted with the monolith. 😊
You will need to trigger the anomaly monolith first for it to jave a spawn chance.

I was kinda hoping there was more to the Harbinger Tree than just providing meat and bioferrite. Like for instance, you get enough of them and it'll summon a monster (Like the creature from the movie The Ritual).
