Stable diffusion creator launches new ai that turns boring footage into super stylized videos.

Stable Diffusion the AI creator known for generating images from text prompts, has spun off a new startup called Runway. Their latest generative AI, Gen-1 can transform any video into a completely new visual style. Imagine turning a street scene into claymation or making a person walking in snow look like footage of the moon landing.

Gen-1 offers five modes, which applies the style of an image or text prompt to your video, and "mask," which lets you quickly isolate and transform moving subjects. Runway CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela believes Gen-1 is "one of the first models" developed with video makers in mind and capable of generating much longer footage.

The startup's CEO even suggests that "we're close to a place where most of the content you'll see online will be generated." While other AIs have tried to create video, Gen-1 looks more impressive and transformative than previous iterations. We'll have to wait a few weeks before reaching a final verdict but it's exciting to think about the possibilities of this technology.
