I am so glad when i saw CivitAI ban SD3 from their site. They don't want their users to get wrapped up in some shitty situation. THANK YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR US CIVITAI

I spent 30 mins with SD3 and started to join the dots. It's deliberately terrible. They wanted the community to immediately start improving it for them so they could tie people in to these insane terms of use. It's nasty and stupid.

Ok guys, we need an underground forum to train and share our pirated models there XD

This is about censorship, they want to be able to cut off people that make meme/art they don't approve of.

Still sticking to SDXL - I'm happy with it.

Olivio, I appreciate your enthusiasm and idealism, but I want to also voice a pragmatic concern. The going rate of a Ada 6000 is around $8~10K USD, a H100 is around $25K and each node would consists of 4 or 8 such units, making it a minimum of $150~200K cost per Grace Hopper node. The new stuff they unveiled at Computex just now costs $3M for the full rack and then an additional ~$500K in accompanying infrastructure.

This means you need millions of dollars to have a system capable of doing training at scale, and millions more to bring a model to market, let's not even talk about the cost of labor. We are now at a point where a mid-level AI engineer would command a salary of $200K plus benefits in most tech hubs in the US.

While we've been able to tack bits onto the foundational model - LORA, fine-tuned checkpoints, control net, IP Adapter, AnimateDiff, IC Light etc, the bottom line is foundational model training and developments are only in the reach of well funded resource institutions and enterprises, and in these places, it is the money that does the talking.

I'm concerned that Stability AI will "pull a Unity" and retroactively change the license agreement for SD1.5

The thing is, paid services barely offer anything extra what opensource alternatives can offer. Corporates don't like that, and they try to nickel and dime the users, and they fight back.

Mass surveillance is the only way companies will be able to control their products 😅

Great Video! It is sad how thing have turned since they started working on SD2.0 and its definitely about time the community set its own standards for things on a deeper level.

Well, even on civitai they call it a TEMPORARY ban. So I asume they also expect the braindead license to change

I never thought when I downloaded SD3 a few hours after release that I'd end up having contraband AI models on my computer...

The day SD3 launched everyone fawned over stability, even though the license was the same since that day. Glad to see people finally realizing. But I can't fathom what took so long. Everyone said I was a hater when I raised this issue FOUR MONTHS ago.

Strange morals in AI:
- Taking works of artists against their consent = Perfectly fine
- Companies making TOS in their own favor = "There is a WIldWest situation!!!" 0:40s

Great videos, Olivio. I think aspects of my previous comment under another video of yours is correct, given your mention of it here (peer to peer & volunteer networking computing for AI projects).

Look at Blender 3D, free but with such a strong community
I quit Maxon c4d when they moved to bloody subscription model after buying redshift following the steps of Autodesk and Adobe.

What we really need now is a true "people's AI", a strictly non-financial, open source project driven solely by countless volunteers all over the globe.

In the early days of the PS3, there was an application that rendered what could be molecules of DNA. It was a collaborative application where you lent the power of your PS3 to science. I believe that with the thousands of graphics cards that exist in the world, they could be used to create a free and uncensored model, perhaps with a blockchain structure

Bravo! I teach an Intro to AI Course in two leading universities in the Philippines and this video is a wake-up call on the possible pathways AI can go. I salute all the open source folks who create more ways students and creatives can use AI freely. Big corporations really have a way of dirtying up things, huhu...

I'll just keep saying it until it's common knowledge. Ever since investors saw indie game devs releasing projects in early access to great success they've wanted in.

They no longer see the point in ensuring a product is feature complete prior to release because people will buy it anyway and damage can be minimized as long as there's a promise to fix it eventually.

AI is the latest example of an unfinished project being marketed as a full product and I believe that is a big part of the reason so many major players are leaving the industry.

AI is meant to fundamentally change the way we live, our existence if you will. There is absolutely no way that rushing this is going to end well.
