That was fun and informative. As an amateur/Dad event photo and video person, I am still using the FZ2500.Worked great on recent vacation to Germany, and provides a wide to telephoto range in a one stop package. I was looking for an upgrade from 1" to 4/3 but there doesn't appear to be an all in one equivalent. It works for me, so 8 years on and still good enough. 😅

If you're just talking about video and photo capabilities, then the G9ii is pretty similar to GH7. But GH7 has a bunch of nice additions other than the Fan. Like CFExpress card, which means almost zero waiting in between burst photos. The Flip Up screen is huge for photography. A more solid grip. Even a locking button on the mode dial.

The question is whether the extra money and slightly larger body is worth it to you.

I am unable to get the 7 at this time, even when I do; I will not give up my 6. I agree with you, the 6 is the best at this time.

Hey mate I love your channel. Sorry for the late response here, I hope you read it. I’m having a tough go with deciding between the GH7 and S5iiX. Currently I’m a blackmagic user but I love Panasonic and in the past I’ve owned the GH4 and G9. I know those cameras struggled a bit in low light but I mainly light most everything. You have a Sony FX30 and have used the GH7. I know you said the GH7 seemed to handle the noise better but do you think the GH7 can handle low light as good as most APSC cameras? My blackmagic is a 6k super 35 and honestly I have no issues with the low light. Just trying to make the right choice. I love the GH line. Thanks in advance!

I had the gh7 on preorder and cancelled it. I love my g9ii and I think I’ll get a second g9ii to replace
My gh6. My main cameras are a s1h/bs1h/eva1 so it didn’t make sense for me to get a gh7 when I won’t use it as an a cam on my productions. It’s a beast for sure

S5 vs S5x PDAF .. I just bought the s5x after a long discussion with myself. I am a total beginner and an amateur among amateurs. But the s5 has in my opinion better video/cinematic image quality. I have seen most of the channels out there with s5 footage .. and to my eyes is much more pleasing. Big difference.
But the s5ii and x are far more convenient, it takes much less time to record bcs the AF is very reliable and in my personal case suits me best…
But I must say that I watch the s5 footage out there with a bit of envy and jealousy 😅

You're so right for the GH6, the image is really special, color science and skin tones are impressive.
About the S5II video quality comparing to the S5, indeed you need to pixel peep or crop but the difference is real. I'm not sure it is because of PDAF since external raw on the S5II has not the issue of the weird smoothed out and sharpened details. The 5, 9K, 6K and Open Gate are better than 4K, so if the best internal video quality is needed on the S5II, it's better to shoot with these high resolution modes, however I found my S5II's IBIS a bit less good than 4K.
And the 20mm II is great, the focus is still noisy but pretty fast on the G9II, better than on OM PDAF cameras.

I would like to ask what you think about using cheap glass on something like the GH6. Does the camera body do much to give quality images, or is it mostly the lens that matters?
For instance, using the old 14-42mm f.3.5-5.6 Lumix kit lens that used to come with older Lumix MFT cameras.

OM-5 and now G9 ii. Started with em10iii, then em1ii which i had to sell because i couldn't use the viewfinder with my polarized sunglasses.
