For nervous flyers and non-aviation peeps: Landing with a shredded tyre is not usually a problem for the plane involved, but it can cause delays at a busy airport because the runway may have to be closed while it's checked for chunks of tyre debris.

Nice landing by the AVRO in those conditions. The air brakes deployed are fab.

That 767 didn't have any choice but to continue. They rotated almost immediately after the tyre blew, so they were well above V1.

Loved watching the gear cycling on the Lufthansa A380. Great video!

What is that opening on the plane's back in the last clip? I'm no expert, seems a bit large for a simple APU exhaust or anything like that?

The fact that the a320 pilot landed the plane IN turbulence WITH hearing 20, 10, *5* is just absolutely insanely smooth. Skilled pilot

The 747 has quite a bit of redundancy in it's main gear, landing with ONE shredded tire isn't a big issue.
It's when they lose one of the NOSEWHEEL tires that it's an issue.

title of the next video: Delta 767 landing with a blown tire. ;)

The avro could just have kept the rudder in rather than letting it off. Just sticking in a fixed amount of rudder and leaving it is better than fiddling. Also the a320 is being a bit overcontrolled. Many airline pilots could benefit from more practice with small aircraft.

What is the purpose of the air brake thing on the Avro RJ100 (last video)?

Could the crew with the blown tire continue to its destination or be forced to immediately land?

Taking off with, and landing with, one failed tyre is perfectly acceptable. Boeing actually endorses it and recommends continuing to your destination in order to reduce weight and plan for your landing. Absolutely no reason, beyond a total absence of engineering at your destination, not to continue, especially above 80kts.
