Computer Magic (aka Danz) talks to Novation TV about how her music happened by accident, and how she uses her Launchpad and Impulse 61 to make music in the studio and perform it live on stage. Keep in touch with what Computer Magic is up to here:

Novation Impulse MIDI Controller summary:

• Launchpad's 64-button grid and dedicated scene launch buttons are ideal for launching and controlling your clips and scenes.
• Set up user mode to activate or solo channels, play notes and control FX devices, all on one page. So you can create totally personalised ways of improvising with Live.
• Including volume, pans, sends, track arming, soloing and muting. Launchpad lets you jump to different levels across eight channels at once.
• Launchpad can be used to play drum racks, creating beats and triggering samples in real time.
• Launchpad can be used to control other functions using Ableton's 'Learn' mode. This includes knobs and faders in Live's instruments and FX, which can be assigned to rows of buttons on Launchpad.

Half a year later, and I feel I should come back and give credit where it's due. The band's got some chops. Not what I'd normally listen to (w/ some exceptions... really like Grand Junction), but obviously talented and very well produced. I understand Novation spinning the "it so easy to use anyone can do it" angle, but telling Danz's story would've been the tasteful way to illustrate it... we already know your products are awesome that's why we're here.

you tube is filled with critiques that do just that criticize but ask them to show their own music and its "oh i dont have one yet".

thats all they do...go from one video to the next check out new gear..go out buy it and never use it to actually make music..they just collect and then come on youtube to tell others that actually make an effort to make music...that they're not doing it well...its amazing

Those days are rapidly ending because music technology is making everything so simple to use. It seems like nearly everyone these days doesn't know anything about music theory.

Those colored labels on Danz's keyboard were a bit weird, but whatever works, I guess. As long as the club owner doesn't ask, "Can you actually play this thing?"

Native african drummers don't know anything about music either but they have some of the most complex polyrhythms known to man. You lose the game, sir.

Somebody should have explained to her, that unless she has some weird form of tourettes that causes her to create music involuntarily, it was at some point done purposefully.
I suppose the message is: If you buy our stuff, the music will just happen, even if you're kinda "limited". Well, yes. Any attempt at making music, will eventually result in; music. No big surprises there, but will it be any good?

I'm confused by the statement, " I didn't purposefully start making music" @ 0:13 --I'm not trying to hate, I'm just trying to imagine a chain of events that would lead from a pretty young lady with no interest in music to Novation saying, "sure we could use this, fire up the Youtube".
