I have a ex-brother-in-law and his family that live in Sugar Land Texas that's about the only part of Texas I've been to. When a sister-in-law and her family moved here from Texas 35 years ago it was fall here in Illinois we were all wearing shorts and my sister-in-law had her winter coat and winter boots on and was freezing.

We moved from eastern North Dakota to Texas in September and loved my first winter without months of freezing temperatures. I think many of your observations hold true today. Thanks for sharing.

“I avoid outdoor activities.” Lol!! The longer I live here in Houston, the more I embrace the hot weather. This year’s winter storm made me grateful for our warm, hot days! That was the most miserable weather I’ve ever endured. I will deal with hurricanes and heat if that means mild winters. I haven’t lived anywhere else and I don’t want to. I love it here!

Currently 95 degrees in Minnesota, but we're still gonna slap a hotdish into the oven. 😉
You didn't mention our state bird- the mosquito. 😬

Your sofa has a print. Nice. Seems very comfortable.
People have the clothing to deal with the weather.

I live in Detroit, Michigan and in the wintertime it gets very cold in Detroit, due to a damp cold. Now, when you go to Michigan's UP, you don't feel as cold because it is a dry cold in the UP.
Now, for the summer months. In, Detroit, Michigan it is hot and humid in Detroit, Michigan due to the humidity in Detroit. But, I have been down in the deep south, which would be the state of Mississippi. The name of towns were Columbus and Tupelo. Since, Mississippi is in the deep south the summer months are a dry heat and you don't feel as hot. The weather comparison was between a northern state and a southern state.

Dawn, So interesting to see the differences between Texas and Minnesota. I grew up in the DFW area and moved to Nebraska when my husband got a new job one month after we were married. We lived there 7 years or as I say we were exiled there. Not really true. The people were great, just took a little longer to get to know them. The winter was horrendous. Our older son's birthday is the end of March and he said, "I want to see the ground, all of it." Yes, there was still snow on the ground. He now lives in Dallas, lol. I don't like the humidity in Florida, but I'll take our winters. Blessings, Linda 💕

That is interesting the differences in states. I feel that way about living in the same state but different areas. Where I grew up has a different culture altogether than the part of the state I live in now

When we visited Texas everyone asked where we were from because we had a strange accent.
We are from Ohio! Northeast Ohio
