We thought that IBCs would be a great fit for a new, commercial-sized worm farm. Although they can work, there are many issues that arise that you must consider while using them!

Top part that's cut off goes into the base upside down with the lid removed and some shade cloth to filter and create a sump allowing you to drain the worm juice.

The rings you cut off would make great raised gardens beds that you can access from all sides.

You need to put like six inches of woodchips or some old horse manure or something on top. I’ve got IBC totes cut in half and yes they dry out. But if you put a garden hose on it and fill it up so it’s soaked then drain the water. Then add wood chips or old horse manure or cardboard etc ontop so the hot hundred degree days and sun doesn’t dry it out. Makes a world of difference to put mulch ontop of a worm bin to keep water in. That way even in hundred degree weather you don’t have to water it for a couple weeks or a month if you don’t want to.

I can’t believe you’re saying they are no good but it’s basically you’re mistakes and bad planning that is the problem. Misters work if you filter the water system.

You are suppose to paint them to prevent light exposure, you are not maintaining your farm, must be the worst farm I have ever seen
