An even more affordable option is the dollar store. They have bins with lids, though smaller than the three gallon. Still a great option when cons are properly mitigated.

We hope to use the dollar store bins to host a class for teaching kids and parents who then get to take them home to start their own!

Great subject for a video! I suggest people start with a tote because if they can get the moisture/feeding right in a tote that they check on regularly, they wouldn’t have any problem with a tower system. I jumped in and bought a tower and had to learn by trial and error to get the moisture right. I now also have totes and I love how accessible they are to just check on so easily.

My bin is just like your smallest. Got the bins at Lowes for $6 each. Got two and I stack them so the extra moisture (tea) comes out the bottom of bin 1 into bin 2. Theoretically. It’s new, so it’s not doing much yet! But it’s perfect for a small space! Under my sink. Thanks for showing all the options. Maybe in the spring I’ll have an outside bin, too!

This is a good video for those trying to determine how to start out. I’m phasing out my large bin this spring when I split it up into the garden beds. I am going to work two smaller bins. The main reason is they are much easier to move around.

Thank you! I am getting ready to start my own Vermicomposter and this helped. Pot worms are no good. I would be ok if I found a clutch of lizard eggs in there though. I would even be ok if toads and lizards were getting a free meal, they are my gardening pest control.
