Before I changed majors and career streams I was a history major. Reporting like this makes me wonder if deaths or removals of monarchs and important ministers like Cardinal Richelieu, Prince Metternich etc. received the same kind of attention. Perhaps when international observers call the US the Global Hegemon they may have a point. There are scholarly books with titles like "The Accidental World Power, " about the US. The problem is that the population at large may be too parochial to realize that power, and the responsibility that goes with it. I try to be more aware, which is why I watch Times Radio on Youtube, and why my passport had stamps from thirty countries and six residence visas.
