1. purge (Command)

Removes unused items, such as block definitions and layers, from the drawing.

The Purge dialog box is displayed.

Unused named objects can be removed from the current drawing. These include block definitions, dimension styles, groups, layers, linetypes, and text styles. Zero-length geometry, empty text objects, and orphaned DGN linestyle data can also be removed.

2. AUDIT (Command)

Evaluates the integrity of a drawing and corrects some errors.

Audit places the objects with errors that are in the current space into the Previous selection set. If the AUDITCTL system variable is set to 1, a text file with an ADT file extension is created that describes the problem and the action taken. If a drawing contains errors that AUDIT cannot fix, use RECOVER to retrieve the drawing and correct its errors.

The following prompt is displayed.

Fix any errors detected?Specify whether you want to correct problems found by the audit (Yes or No).

3. Creating tool palette with blocks from specific drawing

To create a tool palette from all the DWG files contained in a folder

Browse to the folder.

Right-click it. Click Create Tool Palette of Blocks.

Note: This method is appropriate when the blocks are saved as WBLOCKS.

4. To Create a Drawing Template

Create a new template from an existing drawing or drawing template.

After changing the settings of any drawing file, you can create a template to quickly create new drawings with the same conventions and default settings.

Erase all of the objects in the drawing that you do not want to keep.

Click the Application button
Save As
AutoCAD Drawing Template.

DWT files must be saved in the current drawing file format. To create a DWT file in a previous format, save the file in the desired DWG format, and then rename the DWG file using a DWT extension.

In the Save Drawing As dialog box, File Name text box, enter a name for the drawing template and click Save.

Enter a description for the drawing template and click OK.

The new template is saved in the templatefolder.

5.About Repairing Damaged Drawing Files

If a drawing file is damaged, you can recover some or all of the data by using commands to find and correct errors.

Repair and Recovery

A drawing file is marked as damaged if corrupted data is detected, or if you request that the drawing be saved after a program failure. If the damage is minor, sometimes you can repair the drawing simply by opening it. A recovery notification is displayed while opening drawing files that are damaged and need recovery. You can

RECOVER Performs an audit on, and attempts to open, any drawing file.

RECOVERALL Similar to recover, it additionally operates on all nested xrefs. The results are displayed in the Drawing Recovery Log window.

AUDIT Finds and corrects errors in the current drawing.

RECOVERAUTO Controls the display of recovery notifications before or after opening a damaged drawing file.
