In todays video i share the story of my first ever running race, an English schools cross country race aged 15, some 10 years ago. Its safe to say the race didn't go well for me and makes me question, should I really be looking forward to my next race in just over a weeks time?!

Those days are long gone Ben. You're a humble person but I think you have a sense of just how good you are now. Your times are superb. Wish you all the best. Good things should happen to nice people.

Nice job with the editing Ben. The daily blog format and going about your jobs as well as the running makes this super interesting to follow. Taking inspiration from DGR but definitely got your own style. Keep up the good work.

Wow we don’t have anything like power of 10 here in Aus, great to see how quickly you’ve progressed.

Also my fave thing is seeing what junior times good runners ran, as I peaked at 16 haha and trying to give it a proper crack years later.

(ran 2:07 and 4:28 for 800/1500 on the same day, which is good not great, but gives me hope there might be some good times in these legs if I maintain the consistency)

Your progress gives me lots of hope, keep it up :)

It's gonna be exciting to test the field and see how you perform in that race. Gonna be fun for sure!

The next year 2013, When you were 16, you did a colchester park run in 18:40. Wow this shows me that running is in the gene. I have been running everyday for 2 years and my PB is at 23 min.

Always fun remembering one's first race. Mine was a 10K. Hilly one and I figured I'd win it because -- well I could run over 12 miles at the time. Boy was I wrong -- big difference between endurance and speed. Cool video and I enjoy watching your channel.

Great video Ben. And amazing to see you go back to where it all began for your racing!

In HS, freshman year 1993, I was 5 foot and worst long and triple jumper on team. There were 5 guys running the indoor 2 mile and 6 scored. Coach asked who would run to get a point. Ran, finished last in just under 14 minutes, but got that point. By my senior year I was 6 foot and ran 10:30 2mile. Kept at it and ran 5:05 pace for 10 miles and ran 5:25 pace for a marathon in 2010.

My first cross country race i dropped the bib number at the starting line and had to go back for it ahah started last, ended 36th out of 48 runners. I remember feeling really bad about it. :)
Btw, it could be interesting to see a video about your overall progress year by year since you started.

My first cross country race i didn't realize that everyone would sprint at the start so I got stuck in the back, ended up tripping in the first mile and came in 2nd last out of more than 200 people.... almost quit after that. Ended up doing way better in my second race though
