my favourite way is (in the key of D minor) Bm7b5 to a Bbmaj7 then Dm, its absolutely heartwrenching

You can also use it as a rootless V9 chord. Ex Dm7 Bm7b5 Cmaj7. Either the bass provides the G, or you omit the G entirely and get a nice root motion from B to C.

Great video!

Can you show how to use the Major flat 5 chord? It's a very obscure one but I found it in one of my studies as a biproduct of the augmented minor 7 chord existing in the melodic minor ascending mode as an alternate to the dominant 5 and the diminished 7. The augmented minor 7 chord is already one of the most iffy base chords since it never occurs naturally when stacking thirds in any of the base 28 stable modes but people find uses for it anyways.

Sorry for the long nerd rant 😅 really love your stuff and have learned so much from you!

Olá. Você poderia fazer todos os seus exemplos na tonalidade de C. Dessa forma facilita a visualização e o entendimento. Obrigado

Wouldn’t you be able to use to resolve to a C Maj 7

My teacher Jakob Bro would almost always sub min7b5 chords with a maj7 a tritone apart

And in the middle of negotiations you break down

The second is not really a common progression. And if you're gonna use it like that, I'd say it would be a transitional chromatic voice leading, kinda negating the idea it is a m7b5 at all
