Funny how things change over time.. As an Ex BMX racer and trail builder since the 1980's a 'TableTop' will always be a trail or bike park feature that is basically a 'flat topped' jump. Back in the BMX days we called the style of bike movement shown in this video 'Surf Boarding' - Table Top will always be a physical feature of the track to me and Flipping the bike horizontally will be Surf Boarding, but maybe I'm just Old School -grin- No matter what You decide to call the move shown on the video, it looks cool and like most cool moves, it does take time and practice to get it looking smooth and sweet.. The main thing is we are all having fun :-)

Back in the 80's when we did jumps. A tabletop (or just Table) was just a jump that was flat like a table as opposed to a double or woops.
You could do different things with the bike over the table... but the jump feature itself was the table top.
I suppose its like wheelie, which used to be a wheel spin, and popping a mono or a wheel stand is now a wheelie.
(not that I could do anything more than wheelstands on a raleigh chopper in the 70's

And why use it ? Is it a way to limit the height of your jump ? Are your going faster ? I've always wondered when looking motocross racing.
