It's a great song to wake up to in the morning.

Several good tracks on this album - Madrigal, Release Release, and the best being On the Silent Wings of Freedom.

On The Silent Wings of Freedom is the best song on the album. Chris’s bass is outstanding

I don't think this album gets enough love! This opener is great. Release Release is a decent rocker, Onward is a lovely ballad and On the Silent Wings of Freedom is a showcase for Squire's bass.

The arrangement of these tracks is next-level. It’s more like composition than song writing. An example is on Rejoice. Jon sings the melody while Chris plays a countermelody on bass. Steve outlines the chord progression while Rick adds some color. All of this within an active chord progression. OUTSTANDING! It’s like To Be Over on Relayer, which is why I like that track so much.

Ah, Tormato.
I love this album. I enjoy all the tracks, including Circus of Heaven. But then, I'm a fantasy nerd.
This album holds a special place in my heart, as the tour for this was the first time I saw them in concert (the final show of the North American tour in Hollywood, FL at the Sportatorium, audio of the show available on YouTube). Prior to the show all I knew of Yes was the radio edit of Roundabout and the three record set of YesSongs. I literally broke out in tears at the show the first time I ever heard Awaken.
I do prefer some tracks more than others, particularly Onward and On the Silent Wings of Freedom. But I honestly have no complaints about any of them.

Underrated and superb. Don’t Kill the Whale a compact classic. Unique bass wahwah sound for Chris ❤

It's good to see you come back to Yes. I always loved this album although it's not my favorite yes album. Always liked Future Times/Rejoice a lot

Glad you're doing this album it was pored over by me and my group of friends at University and consequently has a special place in my heart. It is not a BAD album - and certainly these first two tracks are classic Yes. Sadly the album design and photoshoot of the band in satin tour jackets (only ELP's Love Beach beats this for lack of sartorial taste) tends to colour one's musical appreciation of the band. Also the tracks are shorter, responding to the new direction in late 70's music. More problematic for me are the keyboard sounds - that rich vein of Moog and mellotron has been replaced with fizzy poly synths that often spray too much unnecessary froth all over the tracks. I'm not convinced Wakeman was fully committed to this album, and there is nothing that compares to Awaken or Turn of the Century. In fact I feel Drama toughened the sound back up again and was a very successful Yes album, so for all its strengths Tormato represents a slight dip in quality.

Love this album. Never quite understood the dislike from some YES fans. Alright it isn't up to the elite level of CTTE, Relayer, or Going for the one, but has some real gems. Notably this, but also On the silent wings of freedom, and Release Release. Great memories, thanks JP. 😍

The album was going to be called Yes Tor... but after wakeman threw the tomato to the cover they called it Tormato. Yes Tor is the second highest point on Dartmoor, Devon, South West England, at 619 metres (2, 031 ft) above sea level. It is one of only two wholly English peaks south of the Peak District National Park—the other being nearby High Willhays—that are above 2, 000 feet (610 m).

This won’t be a popular opinion, but I enjoy this album more than Going For the One. Don’t get me wrong, Awaken is a masterpiece, but this album is more playful, fun and artistic. A little more upbeat. Love Chris’s bass on it, Wakeman’s keys and White’s drumming is rockin as usual

Hey Justin! Love this album since day one. Incredible tour. YES in the round! Wish the classic lineup stayed together after the tour.😎

For me, this was the beginning of the end for Yes. During the period 1970-1977, they had pushed all the boundaries that existed in rock music. Tormato sounds "a little bit all over the place" and has always given me a split impression. Half-finished compositions mixed with spontaneous ideas on a sketchpad. It feels more like an extended B-sides/Leftovers album. The only track I return to is Onward

I love Yes!
May I suggest you listen to Moonlight Desires by Gowan? He has Jon Anderson helping him on this song, and it sounds fantastic! Although it’s from his Great Dirty World album.
Gowan’s Strange Animal album has Gabriel’s band backing him up! Awesome!

"This does just explode with joy": YES, JustJP! It's downright magical.
My first reaction: I heard this album when it came out when I was about 4 years old, thanks to the parental units playing it. Maybe that's why it's still one of my favorite Yes songs (I don't care what anyone says about it! And I was too young to be worried about "punk vs. prog", and all that.) At the same time, it does sound like an album that might be written for children (especially "Circus of Heaven", so...)

There is no other song like thisnot even in their own catalog.

I will admit when I got this album, (it had been out less then 24 hrs) I was a tiny bit disappointed. Still thought it was a fine album. Perhaps I missed the long epics. I really enjoy the album now. And I think a classic Yes collection is incomplete without it. Definitely has a great opener. There are some other outstanding tracks to come. As for the lyrics, I'm fine with the fact that many Yes songs use lyrics more like an instrument. It gives the band a bit more mystery. Anyway, glad to hear you doing it. I am a confirmed fan of the album Agree that the cover art is lacking (although the original inner sleeve brings things up a bit). I don't think most Yes fans truly had buyer's remorse after owning it. Enjoy
