In this video, Coach Vas is doing second Lesson on improving timing with Alex. How to hit the ball not EARLY and not LATE. This day they mainly work on Backhand.
How to time a ball to get consistent shots. How to test yourself if you hit the ball in the right time. How vocalization helps to improve the timing in tennis. In this practice coach Vas uses different phrases (like “I’m Alex”, “I’m consistent”) or granting. Besides, coach Vas shows the importance of inhaling when the ball bounces and exhaling when hitting the ball. How to relief anxiety and calm down during the game with the help of different tools (shouting, breathing, positive thinking). Consistency should prevail over power and creativity in the young age.
Vas explains the importance of basic movements from the very young age in order to progress in the balanced way and to eliminate potential shoulder and back issues. Also it’s important to try different types of grips and shots to be able to adapt to various styles of play.
