I find that swinging outwards on my ground strokes on both wings really helps with having an extended arm on contact which in turn provides that extended window

Never understood what was meant by hitting through the ball. Finally understand what it means thanks!

A very very helpful, and still very much valid piece of advice. Please do not let all those advisors telling you that this will never allow you to develop a great topspin forehand, because your advice does give a player a much more solid and stable foundation upon which to build other more advanced groundstrokes later on. Don't be limited to just one way of hitting your groundtrokes in tennis.

Form is the most important thing in tennis. It’s the first thing every player should learn

Not many ppl paying attention to the left hand but it plays a huge role on being able to stay with the ball longer. Love the way you demo’s the swing - while keeping the left hand out, longer… helps with not opening up too soon and also, with staying more balanced. 😜

This is a technique that was taught 50 years ago, and does NOT apply to todays ATP forehand. If you don't have topspin, you won't be a competitive player at any level. Hitting thru three balls is linear. Today, we brush up on the ball. So the racket head is circular, from high to low, back to high. The angle of contact is drastically different today if you want to ever get to an advanced level. This technique will slow your progress.

Wow never imagined it like this before! thanks

Such a great tip Ashley, thanks. If you watch Fed or Rafa or all the great forehands, they have a long hitting zone and extend well out into contact.

Definitely my problem. What it works for me is forcing myself to keep watching the ball during the shot. The end result is likely the hitting the three balls one. If not focusing on watching the ball, my attention is diverted to what to do next or whatever and the ball flying everywhere and without depth in spite of the effort. This said, keeping this focus for long is not easy and also needs practice

This is great thanks. It works really well for accuracy. However, how do you compensate for spin when doing this?
