Cut off a 1/2" piece of a fatwood stick that you've already slotted, fit it over the teeth of the Victorinox Fieldmaster saw at the hilt, and start pressure scraping. The saw will not close up on your thumb. Please Follow the Swiss Army Knife LINK below and SUBSCRIBE Thank you!

This is handy to know, lucky that some people do have useful hacks

The fieldmaster was my first SAK. I find it to have the perfect set of tools, but I now also have a Swiss champ, climber, and many more I can’t remember. But I always carry my fieldmaster.

The wood is NOT "fat" its just big boned. Or full figured. U need to be more sensitive.

I have to use a mobility scooter when on a long trip. The last cruise I was on part of the scooter failed. I was able to use the hacksaw and file from my Swiss Army knife to fix it. I have only used that once in 15 years of bringing it when traveling. But it was worth it for that one time I needed it.

Doesn’t your Stanley 10-049 also do that? Try to close when pressing to scrape ?

Digging the home made rocket stove, I have one that looks exactly like it 🎉

Just hold the blade of the saw with your fingers. Much easier

If it was the only tool at my disposal, then maybe. Makes more sense to use a lockable folding knife, or fixed blade. Using the right/appropriate tool for any task is one of the first things I was taught as a child.

I have a small lanyard I made. I wrap it around the saw and push on it ... works the same way. Great idea

That’s a great hack David.
I made a short cobra weave keychain for mine. I use it in same way you use that little block of wood, plus it makes pulling the knife out of the pouch where it lives, a lot easier.

Nice demonstration. I everyday carry a SWK Huntsman (Red handle scales) and it serves me well. Handy multi tool and it always cuts. - Tennessee Smoky
