Speaking of difficulty curves, currently playing the RPG "Elex." If I hadn't watched some YouTube guides, I would have given up very quickly, as you start out with everything in the game being able to kill you in one or two hits and you barely do any damage. You have to spend a bunch of time doing NPC fetch quest quests to earn level ups and running away from all the enemies in order to get strong enough to actually kill things, several hours in. It's a weird curve.

It’s hard to figure if the challenge is good or frustrating based on this review. I don’t mind a bit of challenge, but I don’t like the sound of trying 20 times to advance further. Can you elaborate more @Noisy Pixel?

Sounds great. I've never been a fan of leveling up when combat already requires skill bc I end up overgrinding, so I'm glad they gave us a game where it retains soulslike combat without the chance to make it easier by killing the same enemies overcand over.

So it's pretty much an exact copy of Bloodborne's gameplay & atmosphere, but in 2D. That's not a bad thing.
