I feel like one of the biggest contributors to button mashing is the fact that your opponent is moving unpredictably, compared to a got standing still lol. I'll practice a combo for 30 minutes and go online and never connect the first hit, so I never even use it

I’ve never played a fighting game, this is definitely getting my ass whooped lmao. I play the tutorial and like “yea I got this” then in the match forget everything lol

For a select few of you this may sound like something you've heard before only now with visuals! Thanks for checking out that stream earlier by the way, sorry about that! More streams with actual gameplay will be coming soon!

This is my first proper fighting game so I thought I'd spend time learning about mechanics, manual combos and so on. After a little while I felt that I'd gotten the hang of them.

But as soon as I jump into PvP, I'm right back to button mashing. In those rare moments when I find myself in position to do a combo I totally screw it up. It's really frustrating.

Glad to see this video. Personally, I come from a fighting game background, so I haven’t had a problem with button mashing. My problem has been about integrating the assists into my play, seeing as I always played 1 v 1 fighters

Suggestion for another topic: how do I know when to stop blocking? like how do I know when I can punish a blockstring before they start their pressure up again?

This was a fantastic point of view, even 3 years later..

I just picked this game up last night. Like any fighting game, I just drop into practice mode and mash to see what happens. But I'm careful to keep track of my inputs and look back to see what I did and what came out of it. I was able to grind out supers for 3 characters and string them into passable combos. However, when I came across this video it gave me a huge boost of confidence. You've assured me that I'm on the right path to breaking the mashing habit and form good practice habits. This is coming from a guy who plays competitive Smash Bros, where combos are fairly easy to copy once you're comfortable executing every attack in their intended situation. Thank you again for this video!

That combo at the end was crazy! 😁👍🏽
Loving your channel btw.
I already know a lot about fighting games but I love what you’ve been doing, helping the FGC by helping out all these new players. Keep up the good work

Wow, how time flies. our boy Dotodoya was so different "back then" and it was only a year and a halfish ago. Spoken slower, and you can felt he had some insecurities, but, he really matured a lot and gain a lot more confidence. Still adore your work put into this channel, thank you for the content! :)

Thanks for the video. Its cool you actually made this. Your videos have helped my game improve by alot. Playing casual helped my button mashing a bit to where i know what i should be pressing (just gotta work on smashing when i land a hit lol). Ill be sure to lab some more to break the habit and now work on my assist combos. the tip with playing a lvl100 cpu and just blocking has helped as well. Glad im going in the right direction that will lead me back to rank.

Keep up wat you are doing man, it helps give new players the tools we need to continue loving this game.

After playing this game for a week, playing a standard fighter like mortal kombat was so hard. Muscle memory caused me to keep blocking with down or back instead of the triggers 😂
