Hi, I'm Alexandra! You may remember me from the video series The Home Primp. I am no longer working on that series, but I'm bringing you lots of new and fresh content on this channel!

When it comes to rental kitchens, my friends Ed and Noelle lucked out. But there are a few common issues that they experience that almost every renter does too — stained counters, cabinets and knobs that look a little worn out and shelving that just doesn’t match the rest of the kitchen. They gave me $100 to completely transform their rental kitchen. You don’t need to gut your rent kitchen to make it look stylish. Instead, spend a little money and update the things you have to work with. I’m here to show you how!

Watching this because I just listened to your Second Life podcast episode and you specifically told us not to 😂

You're so young! Such a sweet baby! I can't believe I've been here this long. 😊 You've grown in your craft so much.

Nicely done! I really like the countertops.
PSA to everyone else who's watching: please, do NOT make any changes to your apartment/rent house without permission from your landlord. Those changes on the countertop, cabinet handles or touch up paint on the walls (it's doubtful that you'll have the EXACT same color) can be viewed as violating your lease/rental agreement or just plain inconsiderate to your landlord.
So just ask them first. The worst thing they can say is no. :)

More makeovers please! Especially for rentals, I find them to be really helpful and really inspiring. I will say that this kitchen has great bones, I'd love to see you work your magic on a space that is not so ideal. Kitchen and studio apartment makeovers are my favorite!

PSA: if the farmhouse, butcher block trolley is going to have food cut or prepped on it, DO NOT use stain or varnish as your final coat! Using varnish definitely doesn't make wood cut-resistant (nothing does), and if you happen to cut it, you will risk ingesting the varnish/harmful chemicals it is made with. Only use butcher block oils, beeswax/mineral oil mixtures, or food safe finishes on natural wood surfaces in the kitchen!

You seriously do the best job with budget DIYs! There's a lot of Youtubers that do budget DIYs that leave me like, "wow that looks cheap", but yours always look SO nice and put together.

Great tips. Here’s one for you, your plant is leggy cut it back some. Put the cut pieces in water to re-root them. By going this the original plant will grow fuller & you will have new plants to add to it or to start a new pot.

Oh wow. This just pooped into my feed. I thought I've seen all your videos, so it's shocking to see the beginning! I like it. I can recognise it's the treehouse kitchen. Jesus, you've come a long way! Keep it up, AG team :)

The cookbooks and pots look great up there... y'know... where no one will ever be able to reach them without a ladder. 😂

Love the budget friendly ideas.

I wouldn't trust you with a table saw either though... Since that wasn't a table saw. ;)

Glad I found your channel.

Is it only me or the sound of the video is weird? Alexandra's voice is on the left earphone and the music is on the right. It feels wrong

Re shelving - who said the landlord put it up to begin with? As a landlord, I don't care if a long term tenant makes improvements that don't actually affect the structure. No one cut into/knocked down a wall. The only objection I would have is the contact paper on the countertop. It looks good for a little while, but is totally impractical when cooking. It doesn't hold up to knives, hot temps or even day-to-day use, and it is absolute hell to remove. Save it for the shelves. Refinishing the cabinet hardware is absolute genius; less waste and they look brand new.

Wish I knew about that contact paper when I first moved in. Now I have 2 months left on my lease and I’m moving in with the bfs parents in a whole other state! I like a white kitchen but this one needs more Browns and greens to accent the plants and other brown things they already have. More color please!
