MG Cyberster 2025 review: $100K+ electric convertible brings scissor doors to fight with BMW Z4!

The 2025 MG Cyberster is out to make a statement – and a big one at that. Of course, the Cyberster is MG's first proper sports car since it changed ownership to Chinese automotive powerhouse SAIC in 2007. The 30-year wait between it and the two-door, two-seat MG F has resulted in a fully electric convertible – with scissor doors.

In Australia, the Cyberster is available in a single high specification, which features dual-motor all-wheel drive with combined outputs of 375kW of power and 725Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.2 seconds. Being an EV, its 77kWh battery pack offers WLTP-certified driving range of 443km.

In this expert review, CarsGuide Journalist Chris Thompson gets behind the wheel of the new Cyberster to see if its asking price of $115,000 (plus on-road costs) is a bargain against the likes of the BMW Z4 and Porsche 718 Boxster, among other rivals.

There is a Qi wireless phone charger, it is a slot near the driver next to the cup holders 😉

This is Porsche boxster money. Insanity to buy this as a sports car over a Porsche.

Wow that looks very disappointing in real life after the exciting concept art they released over the years. No ones going to buy this at that price when cars like the Kia EV6 exist.
