You’re forgetting another thing, all ISPs require your SSN. I have tried multiple times to set up new internet without my SSN and they will not let you, even if you go to one of their offices.

You are completely neglecting the one major roadblock to anonymising your ISP. They connect a physical internet line to your home address. There is no way to counter this.

I understand that not having internet in your name will stop your ISP from creating a profile, or a database, in your name but if somebody knows your address, will the ISP not create a profile under your address and if somebody wanted to know what you were searching could the ISP not just search under your address? I'm just trying to understand how beneficial not having internet under your name would be.

Can you just buy a prepaid cellphone with a plan at a Walmart or pharmacy such as CVS and Walgreens, then use that wifi for hotspot on your laptop and pay with cash? I ask because they don't ask for an id when you buy prepaid phones so they don't know who you are, so it makes this Anonymous.
