Lia Thomas would 'definitely' beat biological women in the Olympics: Former teammate

Paula Scanlan, former teammate of Lia Thomas, has spoken out as the transgender athlete mounts a legal challenge against World Aquatics to overturn its restrictions on the participation of trans women.

Ms Scanlan said she would feel “terrible” if she were competing in the women's Olympics team and lost to Lia Thomas.

“The girls that Lia beat when Lia won the 500-yard freestyle, the second, third and fourth place finisher were Olympians themselves, some of which having medals,” Ms Scanlan told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.

“So it already happened, and it would definitely happen in the Olympics.

“And I think that would be a big scandal because it would affect not just NCAA athletes, but all women from all different countries that compete in the sport of swimming and also in other sports that they allow this to happen in.

“They’ll also be affected as well.”

As a feminist, I want to see Lia in her own category, it is absolutely unfair towards women. Also it is ridiculous that we are still fighting over this. Identifying oneself as something else is one thing, but changing laws to suit an advantage is shocking. Wtf
